WHAT WE BELIEVE

What We Believe

We believe very strongly that the 66 books of the Bible are God's words (2 Timothy 2:15; 2 Peter 1:3; 2 Timothy 3:16-18).  We also submit to the teachings of the Christ since we will be judged by his New Covenant, the New Testament (John 12:48).  We seek to be the church you read about in the Bible.  We seek to follow the teachings and pattern of worship you read about in the New Testament.

We are undenominational, which means that we claim to be the church you read about in the Bible, not just a division (1 Cor. 1:10) or partition of it.

We have no central government on earth which passes down decisions or decrees of doctrine that we must follow.  We simply follow the head of the church, Jesus Christ (Eph 5:25).  Our congregations do not have regional headquarters or continental headquarters.  Our head, Christ, is in Heaven and therefore our headquarters is in Heaven.  Each congregation is responsible for appointing Elders (Pastors, Bishops, Overseers, Shepherds, Presbyters) to shepherd the flock that is among them (1 Peter 5:1-4).  Therefore, the Elders of a given congregation answer directly to Jesus Christ, the head of the church.  Under those Elders are deacons (1 Timothy 3:8-12).  These deacons are special servants which have been given various tasks to fulfill by the Eldership.  Then there are Preachers (Evangelists, Ministers).  These are those who the Elders have decided to bring to a congregation to serve that congregation.  They exercise no authority except that which the Elders have delegated, much like a deacon has delegated authority that is given him by the Eldership.

Therefore, doctrine is determined by the scriptures found in the pages of the Bible, not from a creed book, catechism, confession of faith,  council decision, or decree.  The doctrine of the church has already been delivered (Jude 1:3) once and for all time and it was confirmed by miracles, wonders, and signs in the first century.  We today do not have any need for modern day revelation since God's completed revelation has already been revealed, confirmed, and written by inspiration of God.

God’s Plan to Save Man
When sin entered the world man stood in need of salvation (Genesis 3).

The only way man can be saved today is through Christ (John 14:6, Acts 4:10-12).

Christ possesses the authority to determine a plan to save man (Matthew 28:18).

The following is the plan of salvation Jesus gave in the Bible:
-Jesus said we must hear His word (John 6:44, 45).
-Jesus said we must believe His word (Mark 16:16).
-Jesus said we must repent of our sins (Luke 13:3-5).
-Jesus said we must confess Him before men (Matthew 10:32, 33).
-Jesus said we must be baptized to be saved (Mark 16:16).
-Jesus said we must live faithful obedience to be saved (Matthew 7:21, Revelation 2:10).

The Church
The word church in the New Testament refers to the called out assembly of God’s people. This group is called by the Gospel (2 Thessalonians 2:14).

The church of the New Testament is the one Jesus said He would build in (Matthew 16:18), and the one that was established on Pentecost in (Acts 2).

The Bible teaches there is only one church. Ephesians 4:4 says there is one body. Ephesians 1:22, 23 says the body is the church. If there is one body and the body is the church, then there is one church.

Worship
We believe our worship must be done in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).
In spirit (with the proper attitude).
In truth (according to God’s Holy Word).

The following are the acts of worship in which we engage:
Prayer- (Acts 2:42, 1 Corinthians 14:15).
Preaching- (Acts 20:7).
Singing- (Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16).
Lord’s Supper- (Matthew 26:26-28, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
Giving- (1 Corinthians 16:1, 2).
